Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and organized Senior Scientist with patch clamp electrophysiology and cell-based assay experience to join the Topo scientific team. This position will focus on the validation of new technologies and in vitro assays to support drug development on existing or new targets. The Senior Scientist will identify, design and execute in vitro experiments at varying scales. They will also direct external studies and projects at CROs.

Responsibilities:

  • Validate existing and new therapeutic targets by designing and executing key experiments
  • Develop and perform electrophysiological and cell-based assays at scale to support drug development
  • Utilize patch clamp, high content imaging, plate readers, molecular biology and other research techniques
  • Direct projects and studies at CROs

Skills and Requirements:

  • PhD in neuroscience, biophysics or related field required
  • Minimum of 2+ years in drug discovery in an industry or postdoctoral position required
  • Patch clamp electrophysiology experience required
  • High content microscopy or plate reader assay experience required
  • Immortalized and/or primary mammalian cell culture experience required
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques and/or biochemistry desired
  • Strong interpersonal skills required
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills and computer literacy required
