Job Description

Revolution Medicines is a clinical-stage precision oncology company focused on developing novel targeted therapies to inhibit frontier targets in RAS-addicted cancers.  The company’s R&D pipeline comprises RAS(ON) Inhibitors designed to suppress diverse oncogenic variants of RAS proteins, and RAS Companion Inhibitors for use in combination treatment strategies. As a new member of the Revolution Medicines team, you will join other outstanding scientists in a tireless commitment to patients with cancers harboring mutations in the RAS signaling pathway.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a full-time Director, Compensation who will develop, enhance, and lead our compensation programs that attract, reward, and retain highly qualified team members. These programs include our compensation philosophy, strategy, practices, and governance. In this role, you will partner with functional leaders to make large-scale, data-driven decisions that support RevMed’s mission and core values. This role will make decisions regarding cash and equity compensation and job leveling throughout the organization.  You will report directly to the Executive Director, Total Rewards, People Operations and HR Business Partner, Development.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and drive the development and implementation of our compensation strategy and programs (salary, bonus, equity) as well as incentive policies and practices for all employees in partnership with HR leadership and functional teams including Talent Acquisition, Legal, Finance, and others.

  • Lead the execution of annual and mid-year compensation planning cycles including project planning, modeling, and training with the support of the Compensation Analyst.

  • Own the communication strategy for compensation programs, in the context of the full employee value proposition, ensuring our offerings are clear to all team members; evaluate needs and conduct company-wide trainings to educate team members on our compensation programs, pay philosophy, equity compensation, pay transparency, etc.

  • Evaluate, enhance, and oversee the implementation of job architecture to support promotions, progression and career advancement in collaboration with functional leadership.

  • Continuously monitor pay trends; evaluate and analyze our compensation programs and practices in relation to our peers, industry and local markets with the support of our Compensation Analyst; propose recommendations to remain competitive and maximize the effectiveness of our investment in total rewards.

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and functional leadership on developing competitive offer recommendations for all positions in the context of the industry, local laws, and internal pay equity.

  • Act as an internal consultant to the business, including functional and senior leadership, regarding hiring, promotion, compensation planning cycles and related compensation activities; communicate meaningful recommendations, including salary and bonus programs, as well as implementation considerations.

  • Enhance and lead our approach to pay transparency, in the context of RevMed Core Values as well as applicable laws, in collaboration with Senior Leadership.

  • Partner with Finance management to ensure accurate implementation of compensation programs and accruals and collaborate on the equity program administration.

  • Support preparation of materials for the Board, Compensation Committee and senior management team related to broad-based and executive compensation programs and proposals.

  • Oversee the completion of a variety of compensation surveys to collect and analyze market data and maintain a well-rounded knowledge of industry trends and practices in collaboration with the Compensation Analyst.

  • Maintain compensation policies and plans, including assisting in developing and maintaining department processes, best practices, and procedures.

  • Partner closely with other HR team members on various cross-function projects.

Required Experience, Skills, and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, business administration, a quantitative analysis related field, or equivalent practical experience, plus 8-10+ years of experience in compensation, analytical HR, or management consulting (e.g., strategy, compensation); biotech/pharma experience preferred.

  • Strong business/financial knowledge; understands business strategy, maintains a fundamental understanding of our business, and connects it to our total rewards philosophy.

  • Demonstrated managerial experience and a team-builder management style, plus demonstrable willingness to live by the RVMD Core Values and excitement about our mission.

  • Hands on approach and experience leading the design, development, and implementation of compensation programs.

  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills (e.g., VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables, macros) and strong verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on tact and ability to communicate and/or present with manager and executive audiences using both Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Demonstrated experience improving and identifying issues in processes, models, suggesting user focused improvements, and navigating/influencing cross-functional teams to drive these changes.

  • Experience evaluating, selecting, and implementing a compensation system a plus.

  • Strong problem solving and organization skills with attention to detail and thrives in a collaborative team setting.

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize options, anticipate challenges, and execute on goals while working on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and as a member of the HR function.

  • Familiarity with the local and national laws and regulations related to compensation and employment.

Revolution Medicines currently requires that all personnel and visitors to its offices be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. This role will require that the employee meet with company employees and work from the company’s offices. Given that these essential functions of the role must be performed on-site, this position requires full COVID-19 vaccination, subject to applicable law.

The expected salary range for this role is $210,000 to $240,000. An individual’s position within the range may be influenced by multiple factors, including skills and experience in role, overall performance, individual impact and contributions, tenure, and market dynamics. Base salary is one part of the overall total rewards program at RevMed, which includes competitive cash compensation, robust equity awards, strong benefits, and significant learning and development opportunities.
