Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated, self-driven, and experienced individual to join Plexium as a Project Engineer. Reporting directly to the SVP of Technology, the individual in this position will work with internal stakeholders to translateuser needs into software, hardware and microfluidic device requirements to support our core lead identification pipeline.  Success will be measured by validated developments and be integrated into Plexium’s instrument platforms, manufacturing operations and laboratory information management systems. Further responsibilities include production process development, continuous improvement activities, sustaining efforts, and product transfers. This will be achieved by partnering cross-functionally with R & D, Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing. For this role, the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment will be critical. 

Essential Job Responsibilities

    • Troubleshoot production issues related to yield, quality, and throughput
    • Work cross-functionally with internal customers such as Biologists, Chemists, Bioengineers and the Drug Screening group
    • Work with R&D, Quality assessment, Manufacturing, Validation, and other engineering functions to sustain, refine, and improve processes for our current production operations
    • Analyze test results, issue reports, and make technical recommendations for process changes and improvements
    • Familiar with project management tools such as Smartsheet and process mapping tools such as Lucidchart
    • Capture and define technical requirements.  Convert technical requirements into a development plan
    • Define and drive execution of development and validation plans
    • Write procedures and protocols
    • Work on cross functional teams to design, develop and transfer new processes/products to production and enhance their robustness
    • Assist in writing of SOPs

Education and Experience Requirements

    • Theoretical knowledge typically achieved through a related four-year college experience, such as a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field
    • 5 years experience in an engineering related role
    • Experience in management of product development or production support in medical device, biotech or IVD device industry

Desirable Skills and Knowledge

    • High level problem-solving and reasoning skills and ability to troubleshoot complex problems in a multidisciplinary environment
    • Ability to conduct process definition and development, scale-up, improvement and validation
    • Ability to apply statistics, Statistical Process Control, and DOE techniques
    • Detail-oriented, highly organized and ability to multi-task
    • Familiar with cell culture techniques and microfluidics
    • Familiar with CAD software
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $120,000-$160,000 + target annual bonus + equity + health and well-being benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by a number of factors, including but not limited to the role, location, job-related skills, and relevant education, experience and training. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire base salaries for the position across all US locations and vary by the location of the position. Our Talent Acquisition Team can share more about our salary ranges and other benefits of working at Plexium, which are not included in the posted base salary range.
