Job Description

Revolution Medicines is a clinical-stage precision oncology company focused on developing novel targeted therapies to inhibit high-value frontier targets in RAS-addicted cancers.  The company’s R&D pipeline comprises RAS(ON) Inhibitors designed to suppress diverse oncogenic variants of RAS proteins, and RAS Companion Inhibitors for use in combination treatment strategies. As a new member of the Revolution Medicines team, you will join other outstanding professionals in a tireless commitment to patients with cancers harboring mutations in the RAS signaling pathway.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Director of Cloud Operations.  The person in this role will be a key contributor in our Information Sciences Department and will partner with technologists and scientists to develop, operate, and maintain cloud infrastructure, data systems and software in a modern public cloud environment.  We are looking for someone enthused by the prospect of applying their experience and learning new technologies to enable cancer drug discovery and development.

The Director of Cloud Operations will have significant ownership in adopting new technologies, clouds, and technology stacks in an environment that encourages exploration and growth.  This role will:

  • Lead 24 X 7 operations for RevMed cloud services, disaster recovery, security, and cost management.

  • Develop and oversee event management, incident management, configuration management and change management processes for all RevMed cloud services.

  • Manage external specialists who will help implement and maintain the cloud environments.

This position reports to the Senior Director, IT Infrastructure and Operations and can be a remote role or a hybrid role based in Redwood City, CA.

Required Experience, Skills, and Education:

  • Experience with one or more cloud providers, especially Azure (greatly preferred) or AWS and with fundamental infrastructure services therein, such as object storage, VMs, databases, and DNS.

  • Solid foundation in cloud management, including system setup, system administration, software deployment and upgrades, incident resolution, and configuration and change management.

  • Knowledge of cloud networking operations, VPCs, VPN, and cloud security models.

  • In-depth knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu) services, user management, networking, and security.

  • Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to automate processes, using tools such as Terraform, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Docker, and Kubernetes.

  • More than five years of experience in an infrastructure cloud-based role is required.

Desired experience:

  • At least three years with a leadership role in cloud management, and/or project management are desired.

  • Familiarity with cloud cost management and optimization tools.

  • Multi cloud environments between AWS and Azure.
