Job Description

Eikon Therapeutics is a new biopharmaceutical company employing revolutionary technology at the interface of chemistry, engineering, computation, and biology to discover novel treatments for life-threatening diseases. Eikon’s discovery platform is built on groundbreaking innovations from its founders (Nobel Prize, 2014), culminating in the creation of microscopes which enable real-time, molecular-resolution measurements of protein movement in living cells, thereby unlocking otherwise intractable classes of proteins as drug targets.

Position

As a Scientist joining Eikon, you will be an essential part of an interdisciplinary team of highly creative and talented individuals with outstanding expertise in the Company’s core platform technologies and drug discovery processes.  You’ll play a key role in contributing to Eikon’s pipeline and executing key biology studies for multiple drug discovery programs with a focus in oncology. You’ll be collaborating and working closely with a team of biologists, chemists, and engineering experts.

About you

  • You’re a rigorous experimentalist who pays great attention to details and takes pride in your ability to execute at the bench
  • You’re passionate about drug discovery and discovering effective treatments for patients
  • You’re conscientious, detail oriented, and organized
  • You’re collaborative by nature and are happy to help
  • You enjoy teaching and mentoring research associates
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy pushing the edge of what is possible

What you’ll do

  • Think scientifically and critically. Plan well thought-out cellular and molecular biology studies to support and advance oncology drug discovery programs
  • Execute key cell biology experiments in cancer target identification and validation through genetic and/or pharmacological approaches
  • Perform key cell biology or biochemical studies to provide mechanistic insights for small molecule discovery projects
  • Develop and optimize oncology target-specific cell-based assays to support drug discovery and mechanistic understanding
  • Keep detailed and organized records of experimental protocols and results
  • Work across multiple projects and efficiently manage priorities
  • Routinely present scientific findings to group and project meetings. Provide scientific insight and follow-up study plans
  • Effectively mentor junior research associates to conduct laboratory experiments
  • Collaborate and communicate across a diverse research team to successfully progress scientific goals

Qualifications

  • PhD degree in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, or related field with 2+ years of post-graduate research experience with a research focus in oncology, ideally in an industry setting
  • Experience in oncology target discovery through in-depth genetic and pharmacological studies, functional genomics or other omics-based approaches
  • Proficiency in standard cell and molecular biology techniques, e.g. mammalian cell culture, molecular cloning, PCR, RT-qPCR, WB, fixed or live-cell fluorescent imaging, flow cytometry, RNAi, shRNA, lentiviral generation and transduction, CRISPR, Sanger and NGS sequencing, etc.
  • Experience with developing and optimizing standard or complex in vitro cancer-relevant cellular assays (e.g., in spheroids) to study compounds’ effect on viability, apoptosis, signaling pathways, etc.
  • Keen analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to communicate clearly and build open collaborative relationships is essential
