Job Description

Atavistik Bio is seeking a Controller to bring the accounting function in-house and help lead and manage the accounting/finance operations and financial reporting for the growing company. The Controller will play a vital role in the growth of the organization and will partner with the Chief Financial Officer and Leadership Team to build out the finance and accounting function. Key Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for managing all finance and accounting operations including overseeing outsourced accounts payable, payroll and expense reimbursements
    • Establish and maintain relationships with external partners for audit, taxes, treasury, internal controls, insurance requirements, and others as needed.
    • Own and lead the budget planning long-range plan and forecasting processes
    • Prepare monthly journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts, prepare GAAP conformed financials, and manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close process
    • Partner and build relationships with all departments to ensure accurate forecasting.
    • Lead and prepare the monthly management reporting dashboard.
    • Review contracts and amendments for analyzing terms to verify against budget assumptions.
    • Manage the company’s tax and compliance reporting.
    • Manage cash management and investment policy compliance
    • Collaborate with other functional areas to monitor, refine, and build finance and accounting systems that support the company’s growth plans 

Required Qualifications:

    • The preferred candidate will have a proven track record and be able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • B.S. in Accounting or Finance
    • 10+ years of experience in corporate and/or general accounting
    • Public accounting experience and CPA preferred
    • Experience in building and managing accounting operations
    • Proven ability to identify areas of risk and creatively problem-solve to mitigate these risks
    • Detail-oriented with significant emphasis on accuracy and adherence to controls
    • High level of professionalism with internal and external stakeholders
    • Be a steward and champion of the company’s culture and values
