Job Description

PURPOSE OF JOB:          

  • RAPT Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated and independent, hands-on scientist to support translational biomarker development and strategy efforts.
  • The position will report to the Associate Director of Biomarkers. The successful candidate will work closely with clinical project teams to execute clinical biomarker strategies.
  • The main responsibilities of the job are to develop and support Phase I and Phase II translational biomarker studies.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute to development of clinical biomarker strategies
  • Biomarker assay development and validation
  • Design and execute (or oversee) complex experiments (both in vitro or ex vivo) assessing primary tissues, including phenotypic or functional analysis
  • Work closely with clinical project teams, including computational biologists, to analyze, interpret and communicate clinical biomarker readouts
  • Evaluate and manage CROs in biomarker sample processing and/or analysis
  • Develop and foster strong internal relationships
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to RAs/Scientists

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Ph.D. in immunology, cancer immunology, allergic inflammation or related field

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • At least 8 years of relevant experience; may include post-doctoral experience
  • Extensive experience in human immunology and related assays
  • Experience applying the scientific method to solve clinical biomarker questions
  • Experience isolating, characterizing primary human immune cells and tissues for input into a wide range of assays
  • Experience with immunological assays including cell-based assays, functional assays, flow cytometry (panel design, execution and analysis), immunohistochemistry, cytokine assays, and immune cell differentiation
  • Experience evaluating, selecting, and managing projects with scientific CROs
  • Proficiency with genomic or transcriptome sequencing technologies, data analysis and interpretation highly desired
  • Proficiency with GraphPad/Prism
  • Familiarity with R or Python for data analysis is highly desired.
  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively
