Job Description

We are looking to add a Research Associate/Sr. Research Associate, Chemistry to our growing team. Reporting to our Chemistry Production Manager, this individual will be responsible for the synthesis, purification, and tracking of target molecules at Circle Pharma.  Our ideal candidate will have experience in solid-phase peptide synthesis and peptide purification in an industry setting. Our ideal candidate will have a proven track-record of productivity and project ownership, coupled with a solid understanding of organic synthetic concepts and analytical techniques.
What You'll Do:
  • Synthesize target molecules on a weekly basis using Circle Pharma’s semi-automated peptide synthesis platform
  • Analyze results, generate reports, and communicate findings to Chemistry Team regularly
  • Purify key intermediates and target molecules for use in biological assays
  • Develop and explore new synthetic methodologies with Chemistry Team members
  • Maintain accurate and up to date documentation of laboratory activities
  • Independently operate and oversee maintenance of selected lab equipment
  • Assist with compound management efforts
  • Assist in training new laboratory personnel
  • Be an active contributor to the efforts of our Chemistry Team
  • About You:
  • B.S./B.A. in chemistry, biochemistry or related life science discipline
  • 2-5 years laboratory experience in chemistry or closely related field
  • Industry experience, preferred
  • Experience in synthetic organic chemistry; solid-phase peptide chemistry preferred
  • Experience following compound management/inventory protocols preferred
  • Experience operating and analyzing data from HPLC/UPLC and LC-MS
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Adept at following written protocols and verbal instructions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates excellent note-taking skills
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • Proficient in Chemistry software e.g., ChemDraw, SciFinder
  • Ability to program in R and Python is a plus
  • Strong interest and experience working in a team setting
  • Strong interest in learning and improving processes for compound synthesis
  • Strong interest in understanding the usefulness and impact of your work in the overall drug discovery process
  • Must be able and willing to work at lab bench/fume hood for majority of the workday
  • Comfortable with working on milligram to gram scale processing of intermediates and target molecules
  • Must be able to lift/reach/manipulate laboratory equipment independently
