Job Description

The Junior System Administrator will be responsible for the performance, availability, and reliability of Plexium information technology infrastructure serving both Plexium employees and customers. The ideal candidate will assist with the provision and support of all the required IT infrastructure planning, coordination, implementation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance for the various test, desktop, applications, servers, and network-related systems. The ideal candidate is resourceful and a self-starter who has strong customer service skills and promotes customer trust.

Essential Job Responsibilities

    • Receive and interpret end-user customer requests/tickets; identifying problem symptoms, potential causes and impacts and provide escalated support when needed
    • Monitor and review various dashboards and logs, identify trends, and then initiate appropriate responses or preventative actions
    • Maintain and create IT documentation to enable streamlined workflows
    • PowerShell scripting for automating tasks in Exchange Online and AzureAD
    • Configuration, and maintenance of the company’s Active Directory, processes and general administration
    • Windows 10/11 and server setup, configuration, and troubleshooting
    • Evaluate new hardware and software applications, as assigned
    • Coordinate and collaborate with vendors for software and hardware installations, troubleshooting, administration, and maintenance
    • Maintain an accurate and timely inventory of all IT assets
    • Assist with the configuration and administration of servers, operating systems, and storage arrays
    • Administration and management of existing hyperconverged infrastructure environments supporting a mixture of Windows and Linux operating systems
    • Responsible for security and performance monitoring in addition to being able to troubleshoot systems, virtualization, or storage-related issues in a logical manner
    • Develop and maintain compute and systems monitoring and observability strategies
    • Participate in and contribute to Agile methodologies and sound engineering principles
    • Manage Tier I support assets, either internal or external, including training and operational oversight
    • Assist with testing and applying OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrades of administrative tools and utilities

Education and Experience Requirement

    • BA/BS Degree in a Computer Engineering or Computer Science related field
    • 5 or more years’ experience deploying, configuring, upgrading, and administrating enterprise level applications
    • Working knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux), databases (AWS Aurora, SQL Server), web application servers and networking concepts (IPsec, Routing, Switching, VLANs)
    • Working knowledge of Windows (10/11/Server), Linux (Ubuntu, Redhat), VMWare, Veeam Backup and Replication, TrueNAS, MacOS (Latest 3 Releases), AWS IAM and Resource Management, SharePoint Administration, Meraki Networking, SonicWALL 7.0
    • Working knowledge of at least one scripting language e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc.
    • Familiar with disaster recovery planning and testing
