NGM Biopharmaceuticals, Inc. is a biotechnology company dedicated to discovering and developing the next generation of medicines for the treatment of serious diseases. The CMC team at NGM Bio is responsible for progressing NGM’s cutting edge science derived protein-based therapeutics. We are looking for an Analytical Research Associate to support analytical method development and characterization activities in support of accelerated early and late phase development projects. The role requires experience in method development, instrument and method troubleshooting using HPLC and capillary electrophoresis, and analytical sample preparation techniques for biotherapeutics.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support analytical method development and testing for in-house characterization, method assessment and process development activities
  • Plan, prepare, and execute experiments and analyze and/or review data
  • Author technical reports
  • Troubleshoot analytical methods and instrument using HPLC and other analytical techniques as needed
  • Support routine maintenance of the laboratory and analytical instruments
  • Review technical protocols/reports and SOPs, as well as relevant sections of regulatory submissions.


  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science or related fields. At least 3 years of experience in HPLC is required. Experience with chromatography data management systems is desired.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in biotechnology analytical method development is strongly desired.
  • A strong knowledge and background in analytical chemistry, including separation science, wet chemistry, physicochemical characterization, or related scientific field.
  • Knowledge and experience with method qualification/validation, GMP regulations and ICH guidance are desired.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter and a good team player and should be able to work independently.
