Job Description

Surrozen is a biotechnology company focused on discovering and developing novel regenerative medicines with a focus on unlocking the powerful self-renewal properties of the body through specific control of the Wnt signaling pathway.

Our vision is to engage the body’s own biological tissue repair mechanisms with our targeted regenerative antibodies, overcoming research and development hurdles that have been previously intractable, and have held back drug development efforts in the promising area of Wnt biology.

Bioinformatics Research Associate

Surrozen is recruiting a Research Associate to be involved in the design and analysis of experiments that apply high-throughput technologies such as single-cell and single-nuclear RNA-sequencing and spatially resolved transcriptomics to mechanism of action and biomarker discovery efforts. In this role you will also explore innovative approaches to combining data from multiple experimental modalities to inform discovery efforts and therapeutic development. This is an exciting opportunity to work with state-of-the-art techniques and analytical approaches on intriguing and challenging biological questions. The preferred candidate will bring enthusiasm, intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, scientific integrity, and a desire to understand biological principles of developing regenerative medicine therapeutics.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze complex in-house scRNA-seq data with multiple experimental conditions in a range of tissues to contribute to mechanism of action and biomarker studies
  • Interrogate in-house and public bioinformatics data such as functional genomics (e.g., RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, spatially resolved transcriptomics, ATAC-seq, Chip-seq) and imaging data
  • Conduct rigorous, thorough analyses following best practices and using state-of-the-art approaches
  • Compose detailed analytical reports, concise and clear key summaries, and quality visualizations
  • Collaborate with scientists who work at the bench and interact closely with others doing bioinformatics analyses

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Genomics, Computational Biology, or other relevant quantitative field required
  • Strong background in biology
  • At least one year of relevant experience (including graduate school) in biomedical data analysis
  • Demonstrated success analyzing bioinformatics data, especially RNA-seq and/or scRNA-seq is required
  • Experience working independently on analysis problems and also working collaboratively with biologists to understand critical questions and context
  • Fluent in relevant languages for data analysis (R required, Python)
  • Experience with Bioconductor packages and workflows
